Executives from Cisco, VMware and EDBI Join Board of Directors to Oversee the Next Phase of Puppet’s Growth
PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Puppet, the standard for automating the delivery and operation of the software that powers everything around us, today announced the appointment of new members to its board of directors, including Kip Compton, Senior Vice President of Cloud Platform and the Solutions Group at Cisco, and Shekar Ayyar, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development and the General Manager of the Telco Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) Group at VMware. Terence Teo, Vice President (Investments) at EDBI, was also appointed as a Board Observer.

At Cisco, Compton and his team work across Cisco and with key technology partners to deliver innovative cloud products, hybrid cloud solutions and Cisco’s multicloud portfolio. He has over 20 years of senior leadership experience driving innovation in cloud, services, the Internet of Things and network engineering and has held leadership roles with vendors as well as service providers.
Ayyar will be replacing Raghu Raghuram who served on Puppet’s Board from 2012 to 2018. Ayyar joined VMware in June 2007 and currently leads the company’s strategy and corporate development efforts and also serves as general manager of VMware’s Telco NFV group, which is designed to help communications service providers accelerate innovation and launch new services faster, easier and with less expense through virtualization of telecommunications core networks and network functions. Prior to joining VMware, Ayyar held senior roles at BindView, Instantis and Lucent, spanning product management, marketing and business development, and was also a consultant with McKinsey.
Teo is responsible for EDBI’s North American investments in enterprise software, mobility, IoT, robotics and future of computing. He is an engineering-trained investment professional and has over a decade of experience in software engineering, project development & management, technology strategy and investments. Prior to EDBI, Teo was with the technology commercialization arm of Singapore research institutes where he helped companies adopt new technologies. He began his career as a systems engineer in Singapore’s leading defense R&D institution, building its next generation of technologies.
